Michelle doesn't want to spend money on buying expensive plants. She knows that she can try it herself and save money. I would say that it's best to not call someone else cheap. If you say you're cheap, it kind of implies that they're stingy. They're kind of rude and don't want to spend money on necessary things. But really, you can call yourself cheap and it's totally fine. I think that goes for a lot of kind of rude things. You can call yourself that, but you shouldn't call someone else cheap.
