Japan to remove spectator limit for large-scale events even in virus sate of emergency

Japan plans to remove the spectator attendance limit for large-scale events and allow venues to be filled to capacity even under a COVID-19 sate of emergency by using a system to check whether visitors have been vaccinated or have tested negative for the virus, government sources said Friday.

Under the current guidelines, attendance at large-scale events such as professional sports games and concerts is capped at 5,000 spectators or 50 percent of venue capacity, whichever is larger.

As new and serious COVID-19 cases have sharply fallen across the country recently, the government will revise the guidelines after heating the opinions of coronavirus experts possibly on Nov 19, the sources said.

I know a guy, calm and sweet as anything, but once in a car he changes into a crazy guy. Can't understand such a dramatic change once he's in the car. Speeding, shouting and swearing at other drivers, getting out of the car to start a fight, tailgating, the list goes on. What is a remote wedding?

cite/quote from JT

many couples had to cancel or reschedule their wedding plans
the pandemic messed up the plans
the events industry was crushed
someone came up with an interesting idea
The idea is beginning to spread around Japan as people can no longer gather in a big number at the same place
no one wants people to get infected at their wedding ceremony
When going to a wedding you're supposed to have fun, not worry that you might get the virus or that you might be the one spreading it to someone else.
people gather on Zoom or any other online conference apps together with their families, guests, some special attendees, and in some cases, a priest.
In Japan, rather than a priest, a ceremony without a priest is getting more and more popular.

Abe to declare sate of emergency for Tokyo, 6 prefecture

TOKYOーJapan is to impose a state of emergency in Tokyo and six other prefectures from Wednesday to try to stop the coronavirus, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Monday night.

The sate of emergency, which will be officially declared on Tuesday, applies Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Osaka, Hyogo and Fukuoka prefecture.

More than 3,500 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Japan and 85 have died - not a huge outbreak compared with some hot spots. But the numbers keep rising with particular alarm over the spread in Tokyo, which has more than 1,000 cases, including 83 new ones on Monday.

Shop fearing Wuhan virus bans Chinese visitors in Hakone

TOKYO- Hakone in Kanagawa Prefecture is a town always bustling with tourists and one of the most popular day-trip destinations for travelers staying in the Tokyo area. Some visitors to Hakone will notice a candy shop and rest spot decorated with "Star Wars" imagery.

Unfortunately, the shop is now in the spotlight for a very different reason.

According to a report by Asahi News, the owner put out a sign on Friday, Jan 17, which explicitly bans Chinese nationals from entering its premises, citing the Wuhan virus outbreak. The sign says: "Chinese are banned from entering" and "I'd hate to have the virus scattered about (here)."

Itochu employee gets 3 years in prison in China for endangering national security

BEIJING- A male employee of major Japanese trading house Itochu Corp, who was detained in China in 2018 on suspicion of endangering national security, has been sentenced to three years in prison in the country, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said Tuesday.

A court in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou handed down the sentence to the employee on Oct 15, according to a source close to Sino-Japanese ties.

It was not immediately known what he had done in China to be convicted of endangering the country's national security.

Motegi confirmed a news report on the worker's sentencing while speaking to reporters in Tokyo.

The Japanese man, who is in his 40s, was detained during a visit to Guangzhou in February 2018.

Since 2015, at least nine Japanese have been indicted in China for alleged involvement in spying activities. With the sentencing of the Itochu worker, all nine have had verdicts rendered against them.

Companies and tourists should stop going to China if this farce for a justice system continues to abuse its authority.

The Chinese government won't be able to use foreigners in the media as a scapegoat to rile up nationalism in the people at a time when places like Hong Kong or Taiwan and minority groups like the Uyghurs are all calling for "Revoluton"!

The problem is that due to the lack of transparency of the Chinese legal system, along with the fact that the Chinese government rules over 1.3 billion people who have had no say in the matter, and combined with a lack of a free press that is allowed to operate without government approval and interference, no information to ever come from the Chinese government or media can ever be trusted.

Maybe he was a spy. Or maybe he said something bad about Mao. Or mabe a CPP member on the street bumped into him, then took offense to his existence and decided he needed to be taken care of. Or maybe any of an infinite number of other possible reasons. All we really know is that the Chinese government has destroyed its own credibility through their oppression of the people's freedoms. So whatever story they tell us is simply whatever they decided they wanted to tell us. They have no obligation to be truthful, and going on their reputation, we've seen time and time again where they've been found to be untruthful.
